Charlie entered a new phase of his career as a broker with Brown Harris Stevens, one of Manhattan’s oldest and most respected real estate firms. Charlie soon became one of the company’s top brokers in his first year working in the high end of the nation’s most expensive market.
When the firm decided to open a new West Side office, they turned to Charlie. In short order, the new office was constructed, 55 new agents were recruited and the deals were flying. Charlie’s role as supervisor of the office made him the man the agents turned to when transactions got difficult. It was a role he excelled at - allowing him to solve difficult problems and gaining valuable insights to every twist and turn a transaction could present.
The dawn of the new century brought Charlie to Miami Beach, where he concentrated on investing in the active real estate market.
In 2007, Halstead Property in New York offered him the position of Executive Director of Sales of their East Side office. As such, he supervised over 125 sales agents and a support staff of seven for New York’s most dynamic and progressive residential sales company. His participation as a member of the executive team gave Charlie valuable insights to the company's award-winning web marketing and business growth policies.
In 2009, seeing a broader market for his talents and experience, he returned to Miami Beach to begin his new practice of real estate consulting. And so began Urstadt Real Estate.
Charlie currently also serves as director of Urstadt Biddle Properties, Inc., one of the oldest real estate investment trusts traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Based in Greenwich, CT, the company specializes in grocer-anchored shopping centers with 51 properties totaling more that 4.7 million square feet in affluent suburban areas of New York City including Fairfield County, CT and Westchester and Putnam Counties, NY.
For Charlie, advising on real estate is not confined to his professional life. With an abiding interest in preservation of historic buildings, he has been actively involved in the New York State Board of Historic Preservation, the Preservation League of New York. He currently serves as chairman and director of the Miami Design Preservation League and director of the Friends of the Miami Marine Stadium.
