ABOUT
Charles D. Urstadt
Charles D. Urstadt is an independent theater producer focused on bringing new voices and innovative works to the stage.
Charlie started working independently as a producer in 2025, with two Broadway productions: Floyd Collins (nominated for a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival) and Call Me Izzy. His planned Broadway productions for 2026 include Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Schmigadoon!, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and Wanted.
Charlie began his career as a theater producer in 2023, serving as the managing director and partner of Edgewood Entertainment for two years. With decades of experience in real estate, he served as chairman of the board of directors of Urstadt Biddle Properties, Inc., a real estate investment trust traded on the New York Stock Exchange. The company owned 77 properties totaling about 5.3 million square feet.
Charlie is currently a board member of Le Petit Theatre and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and he is a member of The Broadway League and The Drama League.
He has previously served on the boards of the Ensemble Studio Theater, Friends of WNET/Thirteen, the New York State Board of Historic Preservation, the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, the Miami Design Preservation League, and the Miami Beach Planning Board.
Charlie splits his time between New York and New Orleans, where he resides with his husband, David Bernard and their Boston Terrier, Dolly.
