Farewell FLOYD COLLINS

Today, we say goodbye to the incredible FLOYD COLLINS, a milestone in my career as a producer.

As soon as my friend and fellow producer Mark Cortale initially discussed this production with me, I was all in. Past productions of the show had been the stuff of theater legend. A Wall Street Journal review of a 2016 production said: “‘Floyd Collins’ is the finest work of American musical theater, not excluding opera, to come along since Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sweeney Todd,’” and a “genre-transcending masterpiece.”

I figured Adam Guettell, Tina Landau, and the team at Lincoln Center Theater would take this beautiful work of art to a new level on Broadway.

And they did.

The cast…the orchestration…the sets…the lighting…the entire production has been outstanding. When it opened, the New York Times lauded it as “glorious-sounding,” “exquisite, even haunting,” and said it “reaches the sublime.” It was nominated for six Tony Awards.

I always knew this would not be the show for everyone. My goal with this production was to help bring something profound to the world. I am immensely proud that FLOYD COLLINS exceeded my expectations.
